Bleaching FAQ
What is a bleaching?
Bleaching is a process that helps lighten hyperpigmentated skin and brightens the skin's tone back to it's natural state. It targets only excess melanin by inhibiting the enzyme in our skin called tyrosinase which is responsible for extra melanin production. It is ideal for intimate areas, acne scars, freckles, melasma, sun spots, age related dark spots, pregnancy discoloration, sun damage, and scarring.
What is hyperpigmentation?
Hyperpigmentation is the process that causes skin to darken, usually it is not harmful, however, it can be a symptom of medical conditions. Examples of hyperpigmentation: melasma, lentigines (sun/age spots), post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, ephelides (freckles), smokers melanosis, facultative (uneven skin tone that changes during life) triggers and activators of hyperpigmentation include: uv radiation (sun exposure), genetics, and trauma/heat
Can I get bleached on any area of the body?
Yes! The system we use is a plant based natural skin brightening system that is safe to be used on any external area of the body. It is designed specifically to be used on intimate areas as it is gentle enough. It is suitable for intimate areas as it won't disrupt the ph or microbiome of the skin. All outside areas of the body can be treated including: face, underarms, outside labia, bikini lines, anal area, knees, and elbows.
How often should I get bleached?
It's recommended to do a series of 3-10 treatments as most clients receive their desired results by then. For the best results, we recommend a professional bleaching treatment 1-2 times per week until desired results are achieved, then maintain results at home using the kit we have for purchase in-store 2x day.
How long until the results are seen?
Instantly! Usually 1-3 shades lighter after the first professional treatment, but everyone is different. It is a natural product so you may need to allocate for time and commitment. Results are usually shown 4-8 weeks of using the kit. Most clients will notice significant changes with continued use.
Can bleaching over-lighten my skin?
Absolutely not! The all-natural formula will safely lighten the skin to a more even skin tone. You will not achieve any hypopigmentation, where the skin becomes lighter than the baseline skin color.
Do your bleaching products contain harsh chemicals?
Nope! We use all-natural ingredients for our bleaching process! We don't use harsh chemicals such as hydroquinone, kojic acid, or mercury. Hydroquinone is associated with many unpleasant side effects.
Are these products safe for pregnant women?
Yes! Completely natural and safe! However, it is not recommended for use while pregnant due to heightened hormones as this is when pigmentation can be caused. For best results, use after a year of pregnancy and breastfeeding.
What are the contraindications of bleaching?
Clients who are currently pregnant, had a child, or breastfeeding in the last 12 months are not good candidates for bleaching. Also, clients who are currently using chemicals, doing IPL, and laser treatments are advised not to combine these with bleaching as this can worsen pigmentation in the skin.
What are the active ingredients that lighten the skin?
Phenylethyl resorcinol, lactic acid, sodium ascorbyl phosphate (vitamin c), cucumis sativus (cucumber) extract, embolic phyllanthus (Indian gooseberry) extract, ascorbyl palmitate (another form of vitamin c), arctostaphylos uva-ursi (bearberry) leaf extract, glycyrrhiza glare (licorice) extract, morus alba (mulberry) extract, and citrus medical limonum (lemon) extract.
Does bleaching hurt?
Not at all! In fact, our first step actually helps numb the area about 80% while sugaring the hair and at the same time cleansing the area.
My product is changing color, is this normal?
Since the products we use are all natural, it is normal for slight color and consistency variations from batch to batch. However, all of the products used are made in FDA-approved cosmetic labs, and each batch has to undergo strict testing and quarantine to be approved prior to it being sent to the manufacturer. Rest assured, although a bit different, the product you receive is safe to use if the only concerns are slight color or consistency variation. Do not use any products if seal is broken or tampered with.
Can all skin types be treated?
Yes! All Fitzpatrick skin types can be treated and our products used are made for all skin colors!
is it common to have discolored intimate areas?
It definitely is! The main causes for hyperpigmentation include sun exposure, hormonal influences including pregnancy, age, skin injury, and inflammation. Any area on the body that has redness from a sunburn, chaffing, or irritation can eventually turn darker.
How do I maintain the results?
Get the kit it, and use it 2x a day. For best results, it is recommended to get our professional bleaching treatment 1-2 times a week until desired color is achieved.
Can I get a bleaching service at the same day as a facial?
No, it is recommended to be performed on its own without mixing with other modalities such as peels, laser, microdermabrasion, and microhydrabrasion.
How long should you I wait if I've done a peel?
Wait at least 2 weeks to prevent any damage to your skin.
What happens if I don't get sugared prior to bleaching?
Your results won't be as significant. It is highly advised to remove the hair follicle prior to treatment as this will allow for deeper product absorption to instantly see better results.
